Our goal is to
produce high quality herbs and spices which have been
farmed using techniques which have the least draining
effect on our resources, of our neighborhood and the
planet.
To this end, we will supply our fields of lavender and
herbs with rainwater collected and then pumped using
solar power. We also commit to gardening using non
polluting measures. We are in the process of applying
for Organic Certification. To sustain the high diversity
of plants, insects and animals in our neighborhood we
are leaving large portions of our land “natural” for
habitation. We are investigating a Wildlife Management
exemption.
Our hope is that this venture will allow us to be
partially sustained by our land. If our vision comes to
full fruition, we will specialize in growing medicinal
herbs to sell to local herbalists. We also have a
lavender farm that is open to the public, participating
in any lavender festival that is created in the county.
We hope to have wildlife and birding guides and classes
in making use of the herbs we grow, as well as teachers
of organic gardening and permaculture techniques.
So imagine with us, terraced areas of wonderful smelling
lavender and teachers inspiring folks about good earth
management. We see you as our neighbor walking down to
participate, picking a bunch of lavender, and all of us
enjoying a greater sense of community.
